Deepening the love for Mother Tongue
"Doing Chinese work in school is a piece of cake!"

“I believe that daily exposure is essential to learning a language,” says Madam Goh, Jing Han’s mother, “Kumon’s Chinese Programme gave Jing Han the exposure and allowed her to do work that is suitable for her based on her ability.”
Madam Goh further shared that through this long-term programme, Jing Han has benefitted from the daily study habits inculcated through her Kumon study. They even brought out in her the passion to challenge what she learns.
Young Jing Han could read primary school Chinese materials before she was five years old, showing great aptitude for the language. Looking into developing her potential in this area, Madam Goh decided to enrol her in the Kumon Chinese Programme.
Sometimes called ‘a walking and talking Chinese dictionary’ by her classmates, Jing Han has certainly amassed a wealth of knowledge about the Chinese language. It is no wonder school work to Jing Han is a piece of cake!
I heard that you are an ardent reader. How often do you read? Are there any particular authors that you like?
JH: I read about two books per week and my favourite author is 杨红樱 (an author from China who specialises in children’s literature) because she understands how children feel.
You started the Kumon Chinese Programme at a young age. What do you like most about the worksheets?
JH: The intriguing stories! Snippets of the passages in the worksheets left me curious about the (stories’) endings and made me want to read more!
Many students nowadays find the Chinese language difficult to learn. Why do you like this subject?
JH: I find Chinese easier to learn than other subjects! It is the first language I learnt at home so I find it easy to study.
What motivated you to complete the programme?
JH: It just seemed right to stick it out to the end. I received plenty of help. It was fun completing the levels.
How do you feel now that you have completed the Chinese Programme?
JH: I feel sad that I cannot read the stories anymore!
How have you benefitted from Kumon?
JH: My Chinese work in school is a piece of cake! I also learned how to manage time properly for my school work, revision and Kumon work.
