Progressing in small steps
Kumon has given fuel to my passion for learning. It boosted my confidence, made me disciplined and taught me time management.
- 12 years old
I started my Kumon Journey when I was in Class VII. I was a bit disappointed to know that I would have to start with something as basic as addition. But my parents and Instructors motivated me and encouraged me to do it. Hence, I joined Kumon and started with Level A (Addition & Subtraction).
When I reached the level corresponding to my school grade level, I realised how important it was to get the basics right and to do it at the right speed. School became fun for me and I started enjoying Kumon worksheets. Once I surpassed my school grade level at Kumon, it became easy for me to understand concepts in school as I had already done them in Kumon. School was just a revision for me. Kumon not only made Maths easier for me but also made me realise how investing a small amount of time each day can prepare you for big achievements in life.
The Kumon worksheets are designed in a manner that students can progress smoothly while learning in small steps.. By completing each level, I feel a sense of accomplishment. Doing Kumon worksheets daily also helps me to improve my concentration skills and the ability to focus, which in turn gave me an advantage in other subjects as well.
I cannot thank my Kumon Instructors enough for their guidance. Along with discipline, they also created an environment full of enthusiasm for students to learn and allowed us room for making mistakes along the way.
Being a Kumon Completer and seeing your own poster on the walls of the Kumon Centre gives one a real sense of accomplishment. I would like to share a simple piece of advice with my friends:
Set goals for yourself to achieve, remind yourself of the goals and what you want for yourself in life. There will certainly be tough, stressful times; but they will not last forever and it will definitely be worth it in the end
